Embedded DCT Still Image Compression

چکیده
Motivated by both Shapiro's embedded zerotree wavelet (EZW) coding and Taubman's layered zero coding (LZC) approaches, we propose an embedded DCT still image compression scheme in this work. The new method generates a single embedded bit stream for DCT coe cients according to their importance. It is demonstrated that the new method performs better than the JPEG standard in rate-distortion tradeo .
